Dunstable pupils at a special needs academy were over the moon when they were given a surprise treat during a trip to Wembley Stadium.
The Weatherfield Academy pupils were already thrilled by the trip, a reward for their hard work, positive attitude and progress in literacy and numeracy.
Then, in the changing rooms, they found England football shirts – with their own surnames on them as an unexpected extra reward.
The “reward trip” was sponsored by Vauxhall Motors.
Vauxhall staff are also helping pupils to improve their reading, along with Dunstable Downs Rotary Club.
Above, pupils proudly wear their football shirts as they try out a new Movano 16-seater minibus acquired by the academy, with a helping hand from Vauxhall.
Vauxhall representative Cherie Denton has played a key role in forging links with the academy.
Head Joe Selmes said: “I am delighted that Vauxhall Motors and Dunstable Downs Rotary Club are willing to assist us in our academy to help our young people to become the best they can be.”
