Be red-dy for next picture challenge

Readers really rose to the challenge for our January photo competition, producing some great shots on the theme of ‘Urban Decay’.

As with previous months the standard of entries was high, but the judges decided the image that best captured the theme was Jenny Angliss’ shot of discarded mattresses in a yard in Guildford Street, Luton.

Jenny, 47, of Brierley Close, Dunstable, opted for a black and white photo of the scene, which our judges felt added to the sense of drama and dereliction.

Herald&Post photographer Jane Russell said: “It was clear that Jenny had used her imagination to find something that really represented the sense of urban decay that we were looking for.

“We received lots of photographs from around Luton and Dunstable but felt that Jenny’s was a clear winner.”

And our February photo competition is now live – this month’s theme is ‘Red’. So get creative and get snapping, and you could win a fantastic prize of a meal for two at Jimmy’s World Grill in Luton.
