Cash appeal to expand nature reserve
Wildlife Trust needs to raise £65,000
Nature lovers are being urged to back a 65,000 public appeal to make a dream come true for a wildlife haven.
Rare flowers and butterflies are among the stunning sights at the Totternhoe Quarry nature reserve, near Dunstable.
Now the Wildlife Trust hopes to buy and restore 18 acres of land for a vital expansion project for the reserve.
The trust has two 30-acre sites in the Totternhoe area and wants to buy the extra land to link them together.
And the aim is that the entire site will then become one of the most wildlife-rich nature reserves in the county.
It is not only an important project in this area, but at national level, too.
The trust already has some of the 174,000 needed to buy and restore the extra land.
Now the team have asked for the public's help to raise the remaining 65,000 needed.
Bedfordshire reserves manager Graham Bellamy said: "This is a wonderful opportunity to make a huge difference to the diversity of wildlife and natural heritage of Bedfordshire. Please give what you can to help us make this possible."
Ideal conditions would be created for attractive and rare species to survive and colonise new areas.
Times are hard, but every pound donated will help.
