Crop fires spark two 999 calls

Field fires involving crops were reported on the outskirts of Dunstable and Houghton Regis on Monday.

There was a small fire at about 6.30pm, off Green Lane, Dunstable.

Two Dunstable fire engines and a water carrier from Toddington went to the scene.

Another field fire broke out soon after 8pm, off Bedford Road, Houghton Regis.

The farmer had put out that fire when the firefighters arrived.
