Construction work has begun on an organic waste treatment solution at Thorn Turn near Houghton Regis as part of Central Beds Council’s aim to comply with EU legislations.

The Central Beds Energy and Recycling Project will ensure that that by 2020, waste sent to landfill must be reduced to 35% of the amount landfilled in 1995.

It will be annouced next spring which one of two bidders – New Earth Solutions Group Limited Consortium and Viridor Waste Management Limited – will take charge of the site.
