Dunstable Fire Station opened its doors on Saturday (September 22) to those wishing to learn more aboutbeing a firefighter.

There was also the chance to take part in a unique “young firefighter experience” – in which challenges included a special safety workshop.

Watch Commander Steve Sugars said: “We hope everyone went home after the event and checked their smoke detectors, and also considered their plan for how to escape from their homes in the unfortunate event that there was a fire.”

The event raised several hundred pounds for the Firefighters Charity, including the proceeds from selling over 200 toy firefighter helmets to children who were there on the day.
