Gipsy pitches are nodded through

Proposals to expand a gipsy and traveller site on the A5 south of Dunstable were ratified by Central Beds Council’s executive committee on Monday.

A committee last month recommended that nine new pitches should be created at Green Vale in Watling Street, south of Dunstable, where a number of traveller families already live and a caravan sales business operates.

The council says it is legally obliged to find land for more gipsy and traveller families in the future.

A public consultation on new sites will take place in May.
