Help solve the traffic problems in Downs Road
Central Beds Council are inviting residents in the Downs Road area of Dunstable to have their say on a number of new proposals to help cut down on ‘rat-running’ traffic through their streets.
Last year, Dunstable Town Councillor Roger Pepworth hosted a meeting which saw many residents oppose plans to put a road block in Downs Road.
Now Central Beds Council have outlined seven different options to cope with cut-through traffic in the residential area, and are seeking opinions on them all.
The options include road closures and traffic calming measures such as speed bumps and one way systems.
The council also plan to soon introduce a 20mph speed limit as part of their commitment to introducing them in all of the town’s residential streets.
Norman Ray, of Halfmoon Lane, said in an open message to Downside residents: “This very much affects you, entry and exit from Downside could be limited to only the two A5 junctions.
“They may not have consulted you but you can still vote for “no change” on the CBC website.”
