Thousands of pounds’ worth of fishing equipment, electronics, jewellery and firearms were stolen during separate burglaries in Houghton Regis and Eaton Bray.

The first incident happened in Wivelsfield, Eaton Bray on Tuesday, February 5, when offenders forced open a side window to gain entry to the house between 6pm-10pm.

They stole a 12-bore Baretta A301 single barrel shotgun, 75 Hawk Super shotgun cartridges and fishing equipment including three Daiwa Tournament 5000 reels.

They also took a laptop computer, iPad, Canon digital camera and Sony digital camcorder before leaving the property via the garage.

Det Con Scott Hannam, investigating, is keen to hear from anyone who might have been offered any of the items.

The second burglary happened on Wednesday, February 13 in Churchfield Road, Houghton Regis, between 8.10am-3.30pm.

Among items stolen were an iPad 3, an iPod nano, a laptop, three digital cameras, two mobile phones, a portable DVD player and a camcorder.

Jewellery including a gold crucifix necklace, an engagement ring, several ladies’ watches and numerous other bracelets and rings were also taken

Det Con Surfraz Hussain, investigating, said: “We would really like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time or anyone else who may have information – however small or insignificant they think it is – that could help us.

“Don’t dismiss your information as unimportant.

Beds Police remind residents that burglars are less likely to target homes that are occupied and that making sure homes look and feel like someone is home could keep your belongs safe.

If you have information about either burglary, call 101, or CrimeStoppers on 0800 555111.”
