Houghton Regis stalker arrested

A man was arrested on suspicion of stalking a teenage girl and trying to coax her into his car in Houghton Regis.

On Wednesday, February 20, the victim was followed from Parkside Drive to Elm Park Close by a man driving a vehicle, who parked his car before asking for directions when the girl approached.

She refused to speak to him, made a note of his number plate, and made her way home.

She told police about occasions in August and November of last year, when the same man had asked the girl for directions, claimed he could not understand her and asked her to get in the car.

On both occasions the girl refused and fled.

Four similar reports have been submitted to police.

The suspect was bailed pending further inquiries.

Det Ins Sandra Evans is urging anyone who may have been approached in the Houghton Regis area since August last year to get in touch with to report these incidents.
