A Paralympic Torch was carried through the streets of Dunstable to help promote World Mental Health Day.

Staff, volunteers and members of Beds and Luton Mind made their way through the town with the torch and banners on Wednesday, October 10.

The torch was on loan from Tony Skinner, of Milton Keynes Sailability.

Tracy Holmes, locality lead for South Beds, said: “It was absolutely wonderful. We were giving out information and the public were fantastic, very receptive. It was a great success.”

She added: “I think it was a very exciting, uplifting event.”

Mind representatives began the “relay” day in Luton, and the torch was then carried around Dunstable, Leighton Buzzard, Ampthill and, finally, Bedford.
