A new lunch club for the over 55s will be launched in Dunstable next month.

The club will be held at the Creasey Park Community Football Centre on Thursdays, starting on October 25.

Creasey Park Over-55s Lunch Club will run from 12noon to 2pm.

It will offer a two-course meal followed by a chance to socialise and join in with games such as dominoes, cards and Scrabble.

Dunstable Town Council staff and volunteers will be on hand to serve up the freshly cooked food and clear away the washing-up, too.

Councillor Liz Jones, chairman of the community services committee, said: “This is another example of a first-class service for the community, provided in the new high-quality venue at Creasey Park Community Football Centre.”

The council says that judging by feedback from Dunstable people, the lunch club should prove to be a much-needed service, aimed specifically for the over 55s.

To become a member, you must register with the town council and book a place each week.

Find out more, register or book your place by contacting Sandy Coyle or Elaine McGarrigle on 01582 513000.

Or check out the town council website, www.dunstable.gov.uk.
