The new principal of Houghton Regis Academy has been named as Martin Bonner, who will start in his new post in the new year.
Mr Bonner is currently the acting principal at Weston Favell Academy in Northampton where he has played a successful key role in improving standards.
Current acting principal John Spurling will continue his role until Mr Bonner takes over, when he will return to his post as deputy principal.
Barry Day, of Greenwood Dale Foundation Trust – who sponsor the academy – said: “I wish to thank John for all he has done as acting principal while we were in the process of appointing our new principal.
“My congratulations go to Martin Bonner on this appointment and I look forward to seeing his strong leadership drive up standards and improve educational outcomes.”
Currently catering for pupils aged from nine to 13, the academy is currently in the process of consulting a proposal to become a secondary school for 11-18-year-olds from September next year.
