New sister lorry for Chloe
Waste management firm Cawleys adds to its fleet
A waste management company has added a stunning redhead to its fleet of food waste collection lorries.
Cawleys, which has its head office in Covent Garden Close, Luton, launched a distinctively decorated vehicle last year, and a reader of our sister newspaper the Herald&Post named her Chloe - an acronym of Cawleys Helping Life on Earth.
Now the firm has put a reheaded sibling for Chloe on the road, and both lorries depict helping mother nature through food waste collection.
The second vehicle went on the road last week after a launch at Marston Vale close to a new forest of 2,000 trees first planted by Cawleys two years ago on a former landfill and brick works site.
Food waste in landfill is one of the biggest sources of harmful greenhouse gasses and, since May last year, the Cawleys Food Recycling Round has diverted more than 2,000 tonnes of food waste from landfill.
Cawleys, which employs 240 people, runs its Food Recycling Round across the south east, taking the collected food waste to an anaerobic digestion (AD) plant in Bedfordshire, owned by BiogenGreenfinch.
