New Morrisons site

Work to ease traffic congestion once a giant new supermarket opens in Houghton Regis has begun.

The improvements to the area around the new Morrisons being built in High Street will see small roundabouts put in at the main entrance and at two junctions along Houghton Road which currently have pedestrian crossings.

New bus stops will also be built as part of the works which will last five to six weeks and require footpaths to be closed.

The council’s Highways contractors, Amey, who are supervising the works have made sure that the improvements will cause minimal disruption. Two way traffic will be maintained and most of the work will take place overnight.
