OAP tells of trek in China

The next meeting of Dunstable and District Association of Senior Citizens is tomorrow (Thursday, September 27) at St Mary’s Social Club in West Street from 2-4pm.

Entrance is £1 if you show your membership card or £1.50 without it. Tea and biscuits and a raffle. All welcome.

At the last meeting, Ron Artis spoke of his sponsored walk, aged 81, along part of the Great Wall of China. A total of 35 people took part in the sponsored walk, some of them suffering from Parkinson’s Disease. Ron was accompanied by his daughter.

The trek lasted five days at 10 miles a day.

Ron supported his talk with photographs which showed the rugged terrain.
