Ofsted praises ‘outstanding’ nursery school
Celebration time at Westfield Nursery School
Ofsted has given top marks to Dunstable’s Westfield Nursery School, which has been rated “outstanding” in every category by an inspector.
The Westfield Road school was visited by inspector Jackie Cousins, who has now given the team a glowing report.
Outstanding ratings were awarded for the nursery school’s overall effectiveness; achievement of pupils; quality of teaching; behaviour and safety of pupils; and leadership and management.
Headteacher Ann Simpkins said: “We are all absolutely thrilled with our outstanding report.
“Everyone has worked tirelessly to provide excellent care and education for our children. We are constantly looking at ways to make their education the best it can possibly be through exciting and fun-filled play.”
She would like to thank all involved with the nursery for their “wonderful support”.
The inspector’s report said: “The headteacher encourages all staff to work together as an exceptionally dedicated team, who care for children and their families very successfully.”
It added: “Parents and carers are very pleased with how well the school assists their children to learn to do things for themselves and concentrate on their work.”
The school was praised for its improvements since 2009, when its overall effectiveness had been rated “good”.
