Ryanair passengers in cabin pressure scare
Malta-bound plane diverts to Italy
Holidaymakers on their way from Luton Airport to Malta had their plane diverted to Italy after the pressure inside the cabin started to fluctuate.
The flight, which took off from Luton last Saturday (September 13) with 180 passengers on board, was bound for Malta International Airport but got into trouble as the Boeing 737 flew over Paris.
The plane had to be diverted to Rome's Ciampino airport and the flight eventually landed in Malta five hours after its scheduled arrival time.
No-one from Ryanair was available for comment but a spokesperson for the Irish Aviation Agency said: "The aircraft in question was experiencing fluctuating pressurisation during its flight from Luton to Malta.
"At no time however did it lose pressurisation and masks were not lowered. As a precautionary measure, the pilot elected to divert to Rome."
