School’s fantastic foodbank help

The helpful children of Lancot Lower School have been gathering food items to donate to the Dunstable Food Bank collection.

Pasta, tinned food, cereals, sauces and confectionary were all kindly donated towards helping local people in crisis.

New headteacher Miss Shead said: “We wanted the children to realise how fortunate we all are to not know what real hunger feels like and to help those in need in our own community.”

In the presence of their families, the children also sang songs to show their appreciation and understanding of harvest time.

Later in the afternoon children and staff tasted soup and harvest loaf that was made from the fresh produce gathered for the celebration – cooked by the school’s catering team.

To make a donation of in-date non-perishable food to the Dunstable Food Bank or for more information, contact info@dunstablefoodbank.org.uk or visit their website at www.dunstable.foodbank.org.uk.
