A number of schools in the area have fell foul to the wintry weather and have had to close due to the snow.

Snow continued to fall over the weekend and many pupils will have to stay at home today (January 21) as the roads are so treacherous.

The schools that have had to close so far are: Beecroft Lower, Brewers Hill Middle, Eaton Bray Academy, Hadrian Academy, Lark Rise Academy, Queensbury Academy, St Christopher’s Lower, The Chiltern Special School, Thomas Whitehead Lower, Tithe Farm Primary, Toddington St George and Watling Lower.

Be sure to check the Central Beds Council website for updates of further closures.

Central Beds Council are also advising residents to keep safe and take proper precautions during the wintry weather with the help of the Beds and Luton Local Resilience Forum website.

Local Policing Chief Superintendent Mike Colbourne said:

“I would urge the people of Beds to take precautionary measures to make sure that they are prepared for severe weather conditions.

“By visiting the Bedfordshire and Luton Local Resilience Forum website they can keep up to date with the latest advice and news.”
