South West Beds MP Andrew Selous was part of a group of cross-party politicians to hand in a petition with more than 115,000 signatures calling for the government to mandate that internet providers introduce adult content filters.

The petition, organised by the online safety campaigning group Safetynet, was presented to Number 10 to coincide with the ending of a government consultation on internet parental controls.

Mr Selous said: “The voices of more than 110,000 ‘ordinary people’ are being heard loudly and clearly at the heart of Government and they are asking for a simple solution to the problem of keeping our children safe online – an Opt In system for adult material.”
