Sunbeds put to the test in safety checks

editorial image

A new sunbed safety scheme aims to ensure Central Beds tanning equipment is safe and salons heed the law.

Central Beds Council says sunbed safety certificates have been issued to 19 tanning salons.

Salons received written guidance and were inspected.

Of 28 sunbeds tested, 19 emitted excessive UV levels.

Salons had a deadline to bring equipment up to standard. Later visits found problem equipment had been repaired or replaced.
