Wildlife day for young rangers

Blows Downs will play host to an action-packed afternoon for young people that fancy themselves as the next Bear Grylls or Springwatch presenter.
The young wildlife ranger afternoon at Blows Downs Nature Reserve on Thursday, November 1 is for people aged 13-19 and follows the success of a similar event back in August.
Budding rangers will learn how to use tools for conservation and conserving wildlife by sowing wild flower seeds, among other activities.
Blows Downs is a fantastic place to see wildlife locally – it boasts migrant birds and plentiful plantlife – but is in much need of help from the community, especially during the winter months.
Ruth Sneath, community involvement officer for the Wildlife Trust, said: “Not only do we take action for wildlife but we try out new survival skills that even Bear Grylls would be envious of!
“Come and join us and you will meet other young people and have a loads of fun, so if you fancy a career on Spring Watch this could just be the start for you.”
The Wildlife Trust movement is celebrating 100 years of protecting wildlife and habitat for the benefit of all.
