A Studham man is raising money for the NSPCC by trekking from Land’s End to John O’Groats.

With a target of £5,000, Mark Herring is hoping for local backing as he embarks on the challenge, which will be completed in two stages.

The first is in March and April when he will walk from Land’s End to Lancashire. He will complete the trek to John O’ Groats throughout the summer.

Mark, 48, who is semi-retired from a global IT software business, said: “This is something that I have wanted to do for many years, but never had the opportunity until now.

“I wanted to give something back to society and this seemed like a good way of raising money for a good cause and achieving my personal ambition.

“I have been training hard having walked from Luton to Nottingham in four days and have just completed the Ridgeway Trail from Ivinghoe to Swindon in preparation during February.

“I’m really looking forward to seeing more parts of the country and meeting all the interesting people along the way. As a father of two, the NSPCC is a charity close to my heart and is such a good cause.”
