In preparation for the Bedfordshire County Championships, Craig Gibbons, a veteran of the 2012 Olympic Games, coached two one-hour sessions at Dunstable Swimming Club.

The first session was with the development, transition and sprint squads, while the second was with the competition and performance squads.

Craig covered techniques for the freestyle stroke and then entered the pool and swam some freestyle lengths to show spectators how he won his medals.

Craig also showed the groups how to achieve a winning start, diving off the blocks and with an amazing push gliding over half the length of the pool.

Laura Butler, contract manager at Dunstable Leisure Centre, said: “We are really grateful to Craig for taking time out of his busy schedule to help our budding swimmers realise their full potential.

“The kids in both groups were smiling the whole way through and took away some great tips ready for their races in the County Championships.”
