It’s time to take pride in Houghton Regis.

That’s the message from the Community Safety Partnership, who will be teaming up with residents and businesses on Friday (April 25) to make people feel proud about the town.

Everyone will be taking part in a special ‘Pride in Houghton Regis’ day, taking time to talk to local people and offer advice about anything from road safety and crime prevention to family events coming up in the area.

Running from 9.30am to 2pm, the event will be held outside Morrisons and at Bedford Square shopping centre. During the day, improvements to the local environment will be made and members of the Partnership will run a number of “engagement activities” with local residents.

Representatives from Houghton Regis Town Council and Central Bedfordshire Council, the Police Crime Commissioner, Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service and Bedfordshire Police will be available to give advice.

Other teams will be there too, including waste, adult social care, Health Watch, community safety, fostering and adoption, road safety, Travel Choices, Trading Standards, Houghton Hall Park project, Groundwork Luton, Houghton Regis Sports Centre and the Westminster drug project.

Councillor Brian Spurr, executive member for sustainable communities services at Central Bedfordshire Council, said: “The Pride in Houghton Regis day is a great opportunity for people to get involved, make a difference and find out loads of information from a wide range of organisations. We hope that lots of people come and join us.

“Engaging with communities across Central Bedfordshire is very important to the council. It offers us the chance to get information to the public, but it is also an opportunity for residents to raise issues and get much-needed help that they may not have realised was available.” .
