St Mary’s Catholic Church in West Street, Dunstable, continues its 50th anniversary celebrations with a Golden Jubilee Concert on Saturday, March 29.
Entrance to the concert, which takes place at the church from 3.30 to 5, is free.
Judy Smither, organist at St Mary’s and organiser of the concert, said: “It is suitable for all the family. Music includes The Hallelujah Chorus and many well-known pieces of choral music, as well as popular hymns for the audience to sing, including Jerusalem and Shine, Jesus, Shine.”
Many singers will be performing, including Hands United In Peace Choir, Serenata, St Mary’s Singers, Dunstable U3A Choir, Polish Catholic Choir and Leagrave Youth Choir.
During the concert, the history and development of the many churches in Dunstable will be told, beginning with the establishment of the Priory Church and finishing with churches built or opened in the last 50 years.
Hands United In Peace was formed in 2001 after 9/11. Many concerts have been organised since then involving different choirs of all ages in order to promote peace and unity and raise funds for various charities.
