Whipsnade serve up village lunch celebration

The Whipsnade Village Lunch marked 10 years with the same organisers at their monthly two course meal at the Village Hall.
It was in 2002 that Pam Ward, Isobel Randall and Chris France took over the ever-popular event, and this month’s lunch was a celebration of all the good work they have done over the last decade.
The lunch was attended by 61 people, who enjoyed a choice of four main courses as well as a sweet treat trolley that included something for everybody.
The long-running event has actually ran since 1990 and in that time has raised over £25,000 for Whipsnade Church.
People flock from Luton, Dunstable and the surrounding villages as far as Aston Clinton to chat to friends they have made over the years and to welcome newcomers.
Organisers say they would not be able to cope without the loyal support of thie regular helpers who greet lunchers, run a raffle, provide a bookstall, serve the food and clean up afterwards.
The Village Hall welcomes all lunchers on the second Thursday of every month for their 12.30pm meal – except in October when it is replaced by the Harvest Supper.
