A talent for capturing precious moments of children outdoors has scooped a worthy win for a Dunstable photographer.
Claire Conybeare, 31, was ranked best children and babies’ photographer in the world in the latest contest run by photography website Pixoto.
And it has delighted the mum-of-one, who was named best photographer in the UK in the same field last year.
Claire, of Spoondell, said: “It’s so exciting! I feel really privileged because there was some amazing photographers on there.
“I feel like I’m in a really happy space because I really love what I do!”
Claire’s business Chinchilla Photography specialises in shots of children outdoors and uses a number of favourite beauty spots, including Hitchin lavender fields and the woods near Spoondell.
“I’m looking for new locations all the time,” Claire said. “I’ve had a studio in my home but I’m going to close that down and so everything’s going to be done outside.
“It’s going really well and it’s just so beautiful.”
Claire got the photography bug after giving birth to son George, now four.
Her artistic snaps impressed friends, who soon began commissioning her for jobs, and attracted other customers through sharing on Facebook.
Claire now has a busy schedule and is planning to step things up a notch after George starts school in September.
She said: “I’m working on stylised sessions for this summer and designing and making my own outfits, such as matching mother and daughter dresses.
“And I’m saving up for an amazing new lens which will hopefully take my work to a whole new level. It’s been my dream lens since I started out.”
Because Claire’s work revolves around the outdoors, taking pictures in the winter can pose a challenge, and she can only photograph newborns during the warm summer months.
But the successful snapper says she still has full bookings most of the year. To find out more, visit www.chinchillaphotography.com.
