Bedfordshire Young Cricketers Jack Kilduff and Emilio Gay have been recruited onto Northamptonshire County Cricket Club’s Emerging Player Programme (EPP).

Following three years on the Bedfordshire EPP, Kilduff, who plays for Dunstable Town, and Gay, have gained the attention of Northants.

In September the boys attended the England Development Talent Tests, which are central to the ECB’s plan for identifying and supporting the next generation of the world’s best cricketers.

Since then Northamptonshire have asked to take them on their EPP, which is a programme designed to prepare players for first-class academy and professional cricket.

Meanwhile, new cross-county developments will see Bedfordshire’s Emerging Player Programme join forces with Cambridgeshire, Huntingdonshire and Suffolk, all supported by Essex County Cricket Club.

This winter will see Beds’ emerging players Rahul Sheemar and Fayaz Ahmed (Luton Town & Indians CC) work with the best talent in the region.

Support from Essex CCC will come in the form of funding, professional sports science support and coaching from the county’s first-class coaching staff.

This development will open further opportunities for Bedfordshire cricketers to be noticed by first-class counties.
