Ahmed steers Lutonian home

Lutonian enjoyed a four wicket win over Eversholt in their Bedfordshire County League Premier Division meeting on Sunday.

Hosts Eversholt won the toss and elected to bat, before they were bowled out by Lutonian for just 142 in 37.5 overs.

Aslam Khan (3-27) and Muhammad Kamran (3-29) did the damage, while there were also wickets for Ahtzaz Ahmed (2-17), Hamid Riaz (1-24) and Umer Masood (1-36).

In reply, Lutonian eased to 146-6 in 34.4 overs as opener Naeem Khan hit 34 with three fours and one six, while Sajid Dar made 18.

The middle order contributed too, Ahmed unbeaten on 44 from 28 balls, while Riaz struck two sixes in his 25.

In the Bedfordshire Invitation League Division One match, Lutonian lost out by eight wickets to Langford.

The visitors batted first after winning the toss, only to tumble to 92 all out, while Langford then had no trouble reaching 93-2.

In Division Three, Lutonian IIs edged out Pavenham & Felmersham Senior by 14 runs. Lutonian opted to bat first, reaching 195 all out in 36.4 overs.

Asif Mushtaq top-scored with 57, Yasir Yakoob hammered 43 from 27 balls with four fours and two sixes, while Umar Farooq made 42.

In response, Pavenham were restricted to 181-7 in 40 overs as Yasir Masood claimed 2-30.

Lutonian made 165-8 in 20 overs, Zulfkifl Malik hitting 27 with five fours and one six.
