Luton boxer Michael Devine chalked up his eighth pro victory by beating Bulgarian Kristian Dochev on points at the Earthquake in Essex bill in Brentwood Saturday, writes Mike Simmonds.

A satisfied Devine said: “It was a decent performance, I expected a little bit better, but everyone said it went well and I’m just being a harsh critic of myself.

“He was the toughest lad I’ve faced. I had him wobbled a few times, and really went to get him out of there.

“But he hung in and tied me up. He was as tough as anything.”
