Hatters striker Mark Cullen has left Luton to sign for Blackpool in a deal worth £180,000 plus add-ons.

The 23-year-old, who finished as the club’s leading scorer with 14 goals last season, had been tipped to depart Town during the January transfer window.

“We’re comfortable with the deal that we’ve done – it could also benefit ourselves substantially in the long-term.”

That eventually broke down though and he regained his place, seeing out the campaign out as a Hatters player.

But he has now gone to the Bloomfield Road, penning a two year deal with the club who were relegated to League One last season.

Hatters also have a sell-on clause in place as speaking to the club’s official website, boss John Still said: “Mark was part of our squad that got us promoted back to the Football League – that is something we’ll never forget – and last season he was our leading goalscorer.

“However, Mark made it obvious that he wanted to move back up north to be closer to his home.

“We couldn’t agree something last season but we’ve looked into this summer and we’re happy that he’s agreed a switch to Blackpool.

“We’re comfortable with the deal that we’ve done – it could also benefit ourselves substantially in the long-term should Mark move on again, but we wish him and his family all the best.

“His contribution to this club’s fortunes should not be ignore and I’d like to thank him for his efforts and goals which got us out of the Conference and to the within a place of the play-offs in two years.”
