Hatters assistant boss Terry Harris was full of praise for skipper Steve McNulty after his return to the team against Mansfield Town at the weekend.
The club captain had been on the bench for the last three League Two matches, with boss John Still opting to persevere with the partnership of Scott Cuthbert and Luke Wilkinson.
However, with Cuthbert suspended, Still turned to McNulty on Saturday as Luton kept a first clean sheet of the season. Harris said: “I thought he was excellent. He made one mistake in 90 minutes when he slipped, but apart from that he was absolutely superb.
“He’s come in and filled the breach, and so he should do as he’s a top class player.
“Steve understands, he knows the rules. He came out, came back in again and now maybe it’s someone else’s turn to wait.
“We’ve got no problems with Macca, we knew he would stand up and be counted and that’s what he did.”
