Hatters assistant boss Terry Harris has urged winger Shaun Whalley show he has a future at Kenilworth Road next season.

The former Southport and Accrington wideman is out of contract in the summer, having made made just 19 appearances this season, scoring three times.

“We know what Shaun can produce and hopefully that’s the start for him.”

However, despite being substituted after coming on at Dagenham & Redbridge on Tuesday night, he was back in the starting line-up at the weekend for the 3-0 win over Hartlepool.

Harris said: “We know what Shaun can do, we’ve seen it in training.

“By his own admission it hasn’t been the best of times for him, but he’s got something in his locker.

“He can turn full-backs inside out and if he’s on his game which he was in the first 45 minutes, then it causes problems no end.

“Of course it can (help with a new deal).

Whalley was a constant threat for the Hatters on Saturday and had a huge hand in Luton’s second goal as his trickery in the area drew a clumsy foul from Aaron Tshibola for penalty converted by Jake Howells.
