Right back Stephen O’Donnell insists there is much more to come from him in a Luton Town shirt.

The 23-year-old summer signing has been hugely impressive in recent weeks, given a new lease of life under boss Nathan Jones.

However, O’Donnell knows he can get even better, saying: “I think there’s still a lot more for me to give, offensively and defensively, but it’s nice to get the run of games, I think I’ve started every game under him (Jones).

“Some performances haven’t been good enough, but we’re all fighting for our futures here and I just hope I’m part of it as I think this manager has got a lot to go forward with.”

O’Donnell has started the last three matches behind winger Danny Green and the pair look like they are forming a good partnership.

He continued: “It’s been a slight change as I’ve had Danny Green in front of me, but it gives teams something else to think about.

“We just need to work on it and get better, build relationships as I’m sure we’ve got nothing but improvement over the next month and then continue into next season.

“The group of players here is still relatively new. There’s lots of gelling still to be done which is frustrating and the fans won’t like to hear that at this stage of the season, but there’s been a change in manager and change in style.

“I’d like to say patience is needed, but there’s no patience in football. We just need to make sure we keep winning games which we haven’t done.”

On the defender’s impact since he took over, boss Jones added: “He’s a fantastic athlete and we encourage him to get forward. Sometimes you have to hold him back because if you kept letting him run he’d be on his way to Dunstable.

“I’m pleased with him though, I think he’s played every game for me, so he’s a good character. I can’t understand a word he’s saying, but I think he’s a good character anyway.

“But he’s been a fantastic asset for us and it’s just adding little bits to him now that we might have a real rounded full-back there.”
