Hatters midfielder Cameron McGeehan has set his side the target of staying at the summit for the whole season.

Luton hit the top of the tree after beating Plymouth Argyle 3-0 on the opening day of the campaign and have yet to be toppled since, after drawing with Yeovil Town and then beating Newport County.

“We believe that, if we’re the top players we think we are, then we should be at the top of the table.”

Ahead of tomorrow’s trip to Stevenage, McGeehan said: “There’s no reason why we can’t stay top for the whole season or be up there in the mix. That’s where we want to be, we want people trying to catch us.

“People come here (Kenilworth Road) and it’s respect to us because teams have changed formations against us already.

“Teams have come here and sat off and we want people to be scared of us because we know we’ve got a top team, a top manager, top coaching staff, top sports scientist and we can really kick on as a whole group.

“We believe that, if we’re the top players we think we are, then we should be at the top of the table.”

Meanwhile, Hatters boss Nathan Jones also wants to see Town in exactly the same position as they are come May, as he added: “We want to stay where we are, that’s ultimately the goal.

“We’ve got 43 games left, we want to be exactly where we are now in 43 games time.”
