The passion of Hatters boss Nathan Jones played a huge part in both Danny Hylton and Johnny Mullins deciding to join the club last week.

Hylton, who agreed a two-year deal at Kenilworth Road, admitted to being thoroughly impressed by the Town manager during their discussions.

“I sat down with him and was blown away, how passionate he was, how enthusiastic.”

He said: “I sat down with him and was blown away, how passionate he was, how enthusiastic.

“He just put it all on the table for me and it was fantastic, great to see that because if he’s like that, I believe it will rub off on his players.

“I don’t want to keep going back to Oxford, but it was the same there.

“The gaffer there was really enthusiastic and passionate and it helps.

“Through the season you’re going to go to tough places, you’re going to have tough moments in games and I believe if you’ve got a manager like that and he’s got all the boys onside and he can get the most out of his players as well, he can get them running through brick walls.

“So over the course of the season it definitely helps.”

Meanwhile, the lure of playing for Jones was a big reason for Mullins agreeing to remain in League Two.

He said: “You meet managers and he’s clearly driven and the enthusiasm that he’s got, he knows what he wants to do.

“After talking to the gaffer, he sold it really, he’s so passionate and you believe every word he said.

“I find that really impressive, he’s someone I want to work for and I’m really looking forward to working under him and hopefully improving, while I believe that we can achieve something special this season.”
