Hatters boss John Still believes his side’s trip to Portugal has been the perfect prepration for their pre-season schedule which kicks off today.
The Luton squad spent 10 days together on their annual training camp, defeating Farense 1-0 in a friendly during their time away too.
“Everything we do is to build the fitness and spirit, we’re not looking closely at the football at all.”John Still
Still said: “It’s gone like its gone before, it’s all gone very well and that’s the key.
“We’ve got all our hard work done and that team spirit goes in it as well, so it’s a dual-edged sword.
“Everything we do is to build the fitness and spirit, we’re not looking closely at the football at all
“We’re just seeing where we are and where people are.
“I’d like to think we can concentrate on the football side of things when we get back as we’ll have a good base to work from.”
Hatters are in back action this afternoon, with a trip to Lowestoft Town, whom they signed Curtley Williams from last year, starting at 2.30pm.
They then visit Boreham Wood on Tuesday night and Hitchin on Thursday as Still added: “The players like to get a little bit of football in and in the Lowestoft and Boreham Wood games, we’ll give everyone a run out and that will tell us where we are with our fitness.
“We don’t want to rush people as we’ve worked hard and might need a little bit of time to get into the football side of it.
“Those two games will be a good indication and by the time we get to the Coventry game and Brentford game we’ll be ready for those.”
