Money keeps his powder dry as Town look to silence the Lambs
CONTENTED by his side’s performance in the 1-1 home draw with Kidderminster Harriers on Saturday, Hatters boss Richard Money looks set to name the same side for tomorrow night’s visit of Tamworth, writes Mark Wood.
And while with an extremely congested fixture list coming up Money will look to freshen things up, he doesn’t think the visit of Tamworth will be the right time, but revealed he will have think about it overnight.
He said: “It’s the way it’s going to be from now until the end of the season.
“Lots of games and an opportunity to put some points on the board quickly and the league table can change very quickly when so many games are being played in quick succession. But we’re looking forward to it.
“We will freshen it up at some stage but tomorrow might not be the right time to do it.”
Winger Robbie Willmott (thigh strain) and midfielder Alex Lawless (hip) will both miss out at the weekend through injury
Money said: “They won’t be available for tomorrow but hopefully Alex will be available for the weekend because Willmott and Paul Carden are unavailable because they are not available in the competition. He will be important to us at the weekend.”
Town suffered a disappointing 3-1 defeat at an in-form Tamworth in August and the Hatters are sure to want to try and avenge that defeat.
Money said: “I think they will try and come and play.
“Just at the minute we are talking about poor performance which is a shame because they have been few and far between since I’ve been here, but Tamworth was one.”
But he was pleased with the performance in Saturday’s draw after some workmanlike showings against Forest Green Rovers and Newport County and a disappoint 3-1 home defeat to Fleetwood Town.
On Saturday’s game he said: “If we get that (victory tomorrow night), that will be eight points from the last four games.
“Fleetwood was our first defeat since November 11.
“Its two points lost because we played well enough to win.
“They are a tough team to get points off. At the end we have to regroup and go again. That’s what football is and we will be ready for the challenge tomorrow night.
“I thought we created lots of chances Saturday and should have scored more than one.
“Over the course of time you will take a fair percentage of your chances.
“We have scored 115 league goals in the 60 games since I’ve been manager and that would suggest there are goals just round the corner.”
And he added: “I thought the performance on Saturday was much better, a lot of cohesion and much better movement.
“It’s how you get points when things are not quite right. We’ve drawn two and won one. We certainly deserve two more and maybe four more, but we haven’t got them.
“We need more than that is we are going to catch Crawley but it is a good ratio.”
