Tyler targets winnable home tie

A winnable home game at Kenilworth Road or a glamorous away tie at a top four Premier League side are what Mark Tyler is dreaming of in today’s FA Cup fifth round draw, writes Mark Wood.

The Hatters produced a memorable performance to dispose of Premier League opponents Norwich City 1-0 on their own patch yesterday as they became the first non-league side to beat top flight opposition since Sutton United beat Coventry City in 1989.

But Town’s stopper has aspirations of making it even further than the fifth round and would love to welcome a team to a packed Kenilworth Road.

Speaking after yesterday’s win, he said: “To be fair I’d like a home game. Anyone at home, because we are deadly at home at the moment. Wolves didn’t like it when we had 10,000 in there, the atmosphere will be unbelievable.

“Hopefully we can either get a big team away or they can come to Kenilworth Road and sample the atmosphere there. I don’t think many teams would like coming down to our home patch, so we will see what goes tomorrow.”

It was a particularly memorable moment for the 35-year-old keeper as he triumphed on his return to his boyhood club.

He added: “I’m staying over tonight so it will be a quiet party.

“It’s great for the club financially, gets them a bit more stable and hopefully we can draw a big team and I will been delighted for the fans because they’ve been tremendous for the last four years since I’ve been here. Hopefully we can pull one out of the bag for them.

“Anyone away from home in the Premiership is everyone’s dream. We will see what comes.

“Everyone says Man U away, Arsenal away, even Man City away, they’re massive, but a winnable fifth round tie at home would be great.”
