Andre Gray latest: In-demand striker turns down move to Bristol City

Brentford coach Marinus Dijkhuizen has confirmed that striker Andre Gray has turned down a move to Championship rivals Bristol City.

The Robins had a £9m bid for the 24-year-old accepted on Tuesday, but Dijkhuizen told a news conference on Thursday the former Luton player had not agreed terms on a move to Ashton Gate and was training as usual.

However, Hull City are still interested in signing the former Hatters hit-man and are now in the driving-seat to acquire his services. Any deal for Gray would see Luton pocket around 20 per cent of the fee due to their sell-on clause.

The 24-year-old striker has been the subject of intense transfer speculation in recent weeks, with Bees rejecting three offers from Hull, before agreeing to the Robins’ valuation.

Asked about Gray following Hull’s 2-1 win over Fulham last night, Hull manager Steve Bruce told the Hull Daily Mail: “It’s quite plain that we’ve got to meet their valuation. At the moment we can’t.

“We’ve known for long enough now how much it’s going to cost. We haven’t been prepared to meet Brentford’s valuation. Bristol have and if we’re going to revisit it, you’re asking the wrong person.”
