Icknield riders star in Central League

There were some stunning rides from Icknield Road Club members in the fifth round of the British Cycling Central League Cyclo-Cross series.

A total of 12 Icknield riders competed in the superb setting of Magdalen College School, Brackley, in an event hosted by the A5 Rangers.

Starting in the second row on the grid, Dennis Lysbygd won the combined Senior/Womens/Junior race by a big margin.

Lauren Randall came second in the Junior female section and is top of her league having ridden all the rounds so far. New member Oliver Cocks was fourth Junior after racing for over an hour.

The youth race for U16s saw Peter Lewis come home 11th, Steven Russell 18th, 11-year-old Enasio Rosselli 22nd, Uzair Zulfqar 23rd, and Helen Simpkins, 28th.

In the U12s Nathan Huggins finished 12th and is 18th in the league.

Icknield had three riders in the U10s with Leeya Hussain on the podium as third girl.

Sufiyan Hussain and James Payne-Fraser placed 13th and 14th respectively.

Icknield will be hosting the next Central League Cyclo-Cross round on Sunday, November 18, at Icknield High School, Luton. For more information visit www.icknield-roadclub.org.uk.

The club are holding their annual lunch on Sunday, January 13, from noon to 1pm. It takes place at the Old Palace Lodge Hotel in Dunstable and tickets are £19.50.
