Rugby League is coming back to Luton with newly-refounded Luton Vipers aiming to take the East Men’s League by storm this season.
The club, whose previous incarnation was in 2002-2008, has been reborn thanks to the hard work and dedication of club chairman Rob Ashton.
They are all set to take their place in East RL’s second tier, with fixtures kicking off in May as coach Ieuan Beal said: “A lot of work has already gone in to get us started and I believe we have a squad which could be capable of winning the league.
“Rob (Ashton) is creating something special here.
“It’s about getting more people involved in rugby league.
“We’re working behind the scenes to find our identity. We’re talking to a few possible sponsors and we’re planning for pre-season too, which will get underway at the beginning of April.
“We’ve got some big aims for the future - there are some exciting times ahead for rugby league in Luton.
“It’s an amazing sport and as soon as people try it, they love it - once people come along, they’ll be hooked!”
