Three Dunstable Swimming Club members have achieved qualification in the British Championships and the English National Swimming Championships taking place during July and August at Ponds Forge in Sheffield.
Dunstable’s Harry Constantine, 14, who now also swims for Hatfield Swimming Club competed in Luton, Rotherham, Sheffield and Plymouth and achieved five British qualifying times in the 50m backstroke, 100m backstroke, 200m backstroke, 50m freestyle and 100m freestyle.
He also achieved three English Home Nation qualifying times in the 200m freestyle, 400m freestyle and 200m individual medley.
Eleanor King, 15, represented DSC within the qualifying window at a number of swim meets including Luton, Basildon and Plymouth and qualified for English Home Nation Championships in the 50m backstroke.
Emily Ridout, 21, achieved some excellent personal best times at the Cardiff International Swim Meet to qualify for British Championships in 50m breaststroke and 50m freestyle.
Competition to qualify was extremely fierce and these and a number of team members were very close to qualifying in a number of other events.
With qualifiers in each age group having less than a second between the personal best times of those who will be competing at the Nationals, all swimmers will be working very hard to prepare for their events as director of swimming, Tim Hutton said: “It’s an absolutely huge achievement for Ellie, Emily and Harry.
“This further cements our position as one of the leading clubs in Bedfordshire.
“All swimmers undertake vigorous and dedicated training in order to achieve while juggling education, and are real role models to the rest of our swimmers.”
