That Peppa Pig is a troublemaker though!
When you take your two-year-old daughter to an exciting themepark the last thing you expect is for her not to want to go on any of the rides!

So why was it with a whole heap of fantastic attractions on offer at Gulliver's Land at Milton Keynes, that my toddler couldn't be encouraged to go on any of them?

Bear in mind a whole year ago as a 18-month old, the only thing stopping her jumping on rides at Legoland Windsor was the 90cm height restriction, it was a more than a bit bewildering that this now 95cm tall infant, normally a bundle of energy, just didn't want to know.

"I don't to go on that ride," she shrieked as we approached the Balloons Ferris Wheel.

"No, no, I don't want to do it," she screamed as we tried to urge her in the direction of the Silver Mine.

Finally we thought we were in luck with the Tree Tops Swing - until she pulled out at the last minute after ten minutes of queuing up!

Argh, children!

But then it dawned on us why she was so reluctant to join in with the hordes of youngsters having a whale of the time.

Peppa Pig!

For those who are none the wiser, that's the Nickelodeon character who is famous for her adventures and lives with her little brother George, Mummy Pig and Daddy Pig.

We spent the days leading up to Sunday's visit getting our daughter all excited about the prospect of meeting this little TV character. Perhaps, then, it was our own fault that we weren't going to able to get on and enjoy the park's enchanting attractions until she'd first met her.

So we joined the queue outside the Main Street Theatre to see Peppa. Such was her popularity we had to be a bit patient though, but coming out the exit door and seeing my daughter's beaming smile on her face made it worth the wait.

Now we could kick on and really investigate what Gulliver's had to offer.

The attractive site is dedicated to providing family fun for children aged two to 13 and is packed with attractions and entertainment.

And thankfully, unlike some other parks I could mention, you don't collapse in an exhausted heap at the end of your day as every ride is neatly positioned within a few strides of the next one.

Obviously the day I visited was a particular busy one due to a certain Peppa Pig, but while you had to wait in line for your turn, the hold-ups never got anywhere near long enough to put you off bothering.

And so, with our Peppa visit done, the "I don't want to do that ride" comments were soon replaced with "do it again, do it again", "I want to go on that" and "that was fun".

My daughter's particular favourites were the Lilliput Land Castle where she could run around and have a go on play equipment, the Enchanted Forest which was large room beautifully lit up to give it an almost festive feel, and the Horse Carousel.

Then it was back to the Tree Tops Swing - where it was second time lucky - before some wet and wild fun on the Jungle River Ride.

Then we raced down to the Main Street balcony where Peppa was due to meet her adoring fans for one last time as she joined in with a spot of waving and dancing.

So was the day a success? In my eyes, a definite yes, despite the early hiccup.

So what about in the eyes of my daughter? Well, when I asked her on the way home if she'd had a good time she responded in an appealing tone "go again, go again?".
