One of the most influential figures in modern rock comes to the region on Saturday May 9.
Thurston Moore is best known for his role as singer, songwriter and guitarist with seminal ‘noise rock’ group Sonic Youth, which he founded and whose influence can be heard in the music of bands such as Nirvana and Radiohead.
Sonic Youth’s fans include David Bowie and Neil Young, while Moore has collaborated with artists such as Yoko Ono, Merce Cunningham and Gus Van Sant.
Moore also records and tours as a solo artist, and is bringing his own band to Bedford Esquires.
His latest album The Best Day, released last October, is being hailed as one of the best works of his career, and for his Bedford date he’ll be playing accompanied by his full band featuring Debbie Googe of My Bloody Valentine, Steve Shelley of Sonic Youth and James Sewards of Nøught.
Doors open at 8pm, with a special guest support act to be confirmed.
