The class is an exciting mix of original children’s songs, movement, percussion, role play and imagination run by actress and singer Amy Cassidy.

It’s a comic tale, tracing the story of a tramp who wanders into a forest and meets a variety of insects, including superficial butterflies, warlike ants, an innocent chrysalis and two lisping snails.

The cast will spend a week in rehearsals and receive intensive musical theatre training before it’s curtain up and lights on for performances on Saturday, August 9.

They’ll be schooled in movement, prop making and body language as well as core skills such as acting, singing and dancing.

And they’ll have the thrill of working with the show’s writer and composer, Robert Mitchell.

The show is charmingly funny and will appeal to all age groups, bringing the world just beyond greenery alive.

It’s also being performed on a thrust stage with the audience positioned around three sides for a more intimate feel.

The Grove Theatre has staged a Summer musical Project each year since it opened in 2007, giving local talent the chance to gain experience and an understanding of the process behind a musical production.

It’s a fantastic opportunity to see how a show is put together, from first rehearsal to final performance and everything in between.

It’s also a great way to make new friends, build confidence, develop communication skills through group work and – most importantly – to have fun.

Tickets for Insectzzz! are £8 each from the Box Office on 01582 602080 or online at www.grovetheatre.co.uk
