“My happiest memories of panto were during my time there and I’ve been dying to return but my schedule over the last seven years hasn’t allowed me.

“However this year I’m back with a show that will be fun for everyone – especially me, so bring it on!”

A Milton Keynes Theatre spokeswoman said: “Bradley was our most popular panto star ever - he smashed box office records in 2006 in Cinderella and again in 2007 in Aladdin.”

He also played loveable rogue Danny Baldwin in the long-running soap Coronation Street and won Best Actor at both The Royal Television Society Awards and The TV Times Awards in 2006.

He will appear as Smee, Captain Hook’s hapless first mate.

David Bedella will take on the role of Hook, the biggest baddie in Neverland.
