Folk troubadour Joe in town

The Kildare-born singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist will be performing at Luton Library Theatre on Saturday September 5 at 7.30pm.

The show, called ‘Joe Giltrap – Folk Troubadour’, will provide audiences with a range of Celtic folk songs from traditional to contemporary, all performed in his own distinctive style.

Joe has an acclaimed career spanning over four decades and was a founder member of Irish Mist. He is one of the few people ever to have recorded with American folk legend Tom Paxton and is a regular contributor to the music reviews for national paper The Irish Post.

Ellen Waghorn, Creative Producer of Luton Library Theatre said: “We are really excited to have such a talented and well known Irish musician performing here and the evening is set to be a fantastic journey through Celtic music and a masterclass in folk musicianship.”

Joe has been described as “the thinking man’s Celtic musician” by Nick Dalton in the Sunday Express, as “a magnificent singer with a warm and passionate voice” by Massimo Ferro in Italian publication La Voce, and as playing a “wonderfully diverse mix of Celtic roots” by Time Out.
